Reflection for July 2025 (Liturgical Year - Cycle C, Year I)
Community Word: Proclaimers of the Good News are witnesses of the Kingdom of God.
Order: “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” (Lk 10:2)

Reflection
The liturgical readings for July challenge us to embrace the call to discipleship, marked by mission, love, prayer, and spiritual conversion. At the heart of these readings is the message that Proclaimers of the Good News are living witnesses to the Kingdom of God. As followers of Christ, we are all called to share in this mission. Today, we live in a world longing for hope, truth, and transformation. Yet, the laborers are few, and the mission is urgent. Though we may face many challenges and difficulties along the way, we can trust in God’s constant provision and guidance. When we step out in faith, we become true witnesses, proclaiming the truth in love and reflecting Christ in the way we live. Jesus reminds us: “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few…” (Lk 10:2). As evangelizers, our mission is clear – to go, to serve, and to bring souls to Him.

Let us reflect on the ways we may become witnesses of God’s Kingdom through the Sunday readings for July.
For the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time, our theme is: We are proclaimers and witnesses of God’s Kingdom when we spread the Gospel of Christ to everyone. As followers of Jesus, we are not just recipients of the Gospel but also messengers. We are sent to share His mercy, peace, and joy with all. Evangelization is both a privilege and a sacred responsibility. Despite any trials we face, we find joy and fulfilment in testifying to His saving love. This joy is echoed in the promise: “…your heart shall rejoice…the Lord’s power shall be known to his servants.” (Is 66:14)

For the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time, our theme is: We are proclaimers and witnesses of God’s Kingdom when we show compassion and kindness to the helpless. At the heart of the Gospel is love, love for God and love for neighbor. Jesus does not just affirm the commandment. He teaches that our 'neighbor' includes the extremely poor, the marginalized, those in helpless situations, and those on the peripheries of society. Love means reaching out with deep compassion, genuine care and generosity, and a sincere desire to ease the burdens of those who suffer. In doing so, we fulfill the Gospel’s call and live out the promise: “The Lord hears the poor, and his own who are in bonds, he spurns not.” (Ps 69:34)

For the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time, our theme is: We are proclaimers and witnesses of God’s Kingdom when we listen to Jesus and act on His teachings. The story of Martha and Mary reminds us of the balance between service and stillness, between doing and reflection. Our actions must flow from a heart rooted in prayer and attentiveness to Christ. Jesus cautions: “You are anxious and worried about many things…” (Lk 10:41b). While ministry is important, intimacy with the Lord is essential. A disciple’s strength comes from resting in God’s presence, reflecting on His Word, and allowing His Spirit to direct our works. As St. Paul writes: “It is Christ in you, the hope for glory.” (Col 1:27b)

Finally, for the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time, our theme is: We are proclaimers and witnesses of God’s Kingdom when we persevere in prayer and receive the gifts of the Spirit. Prayer is the heartbeat of a faithful life. Jesus teaches that prayer must be persistent, an expression of trust, intimacy, and dependence on God. It is through faithful prayer that we grow in relationship with the Father and open ourselves to the movement of the Holy Spirit. God is not distant or indifferent, but a generous Father eager to respond to His children. The promise is clear and reassuring: “For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened,” (Lk 11:10). Let us ask boldly, seek deeply, and knock faithfully, trusting in God’s perfect timing and generous grace.

Lord, thank You for all the blessings, challenges, and wonderful experiences You have bestowed on us. We are here to worship and serve You, Lord. Continue to use us to evangelize and use us as Your channel of blessings to our brothers and sisters who are in need. Amen.
